We're a group of dreamers determined to make a difference in the lives of thousands.
We transform the lives of individuals with special needs through activities and opportunities for growth in a safe, secure environment while providing community education on disabilities and inclusiveness.
Did you know nearly one-fifth of all Americans have a physical, sensory, or intellectual disability? In Tennessee alone, the Department of Education reported 124,303 registered children ages 3-21 with disabilities (excluding private and homeschooled students).
Unfortunately for these residents, there is a statewide shortage of services available for this ever-growing population. In addition to the lack of services provided for individuals with disabilities, their caregivers also depend on respite opportunities and reliable childcare so that they are able to work to provide for their families.
At Empower Me Center, we strive to create opportunities year-round for our participants. In doing so, we also aim to be in an accepting, therapeutic space that caters to the needs of our participants (ages 5 & up) AND provide them with the same opportunities as those in their peer groups without disabilities.
We work with individuals with disabilities including but not limited to Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Epilepsy, Fragile X Syndrome, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from physical or sexual abuse, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Blindness, Deafness, Microencephaly, and Schizophrenia, Down Syndrome, Tuberous Sclerosis, Smith-Magenis Syndrome, and Angelman Syndrome.
Empower Me Center provides exceptional opportunities for the special needs community to live their best lives.
In 1999, Empower Day Camp was created by a group of pediatric therapists seeking to meet the needs of local children. Since then, we have had the privilege of serving individuals from 28 counties, three states, and one international child from Russia. What began as a weekend basketball league has now evolved into serving more than 2,100 individuals with special needs from all over Tennessee.
We empower our participants to lead fun, fulfilling, and productive lives. Our one of a kind organization offers 6 weekly summer day camp sessions and other year-round activities personalized to meet each individual's behavioral and medical needs. Our programs provide a safe, positive learning and social environment for children and young adults ages 5 years and older.
